NICO GUILIS IS A NYC-BASED CREATIVE DIRECTOR, PHOTOGRAPHER & ARTIST WITH A CALIFORNIA STATE OF MIND.  SHE HAS DEVELOPED A WELL-TRAINED EYE FOR STYLE AND HAS BUILT A DIVERSE PORTFOLIO IN THE FASHION WORLD, FREELANCING IN BOTH NATIVE AND INTERNATIONAL SOIL.  NICO, A PHOTOGRAPHY GRADUATE FROM CSU LONG BEACH, IS HEAVILY INSPIRED BY JEAN C. PIGOZZI, GUSTAVE LE GRAY, CECIL BEATON & JEFF DIVINE.. 

NICO IN A RECENT INTERVIEW::

"The decision to launch this new division of FYC came from my need to really dive into the location and the character of who "this girl" is and what her "Get Lost" story in depth is. For Guilis this an ode to what editorials used be like, a chance to take your time to perfect the most memorable tale, to inspire, to elevate, to slow down time and capture the moment as its happening. Something that can be referred to as a pivotal point in female artistry. 

When I started Find Your California's Instagram - there was so much passion and energy behind the journey and path I was living / what that meant and sharing my world through my lens. I began photographing my online features with influential females where we would channel a California kind of character allowing me to express through a point of inspiration. I call this type of documentation "Getting Lost" . I felt the new direction and division for me naturally was expand on the "Get Lost " concept and tell the story of this girl through a short film and editorial at length in remote locations around the world. Executing this type of project has allowed me to form an exceptional creative team. I am the Creative Director , Director and Photographer of the series - I curate the locations with my talent one on one and start to build out my concept from there. My first conceptual idea is the time period of which the girl will be portraying. I start to dive into this process in which from there I can navigate clothing and beauty support for each location. Jonathan Wing is my DP for film and Editor. He marries my vision to his own interpretation - we shoot side by side to my set ups on location, it allows you as the viewer to feel as though you are walking into the stills. My designer Ava Alexis is the heart beat of the company - she has been with me since day one and effortlessly executes and frames my vision". 

You are always the captain of your ship when it is your vision being executed, but you are only as strong as your crew. I never have enough words (ava might disagree) or imagery for all my love and gratitude to my FYC family. xoxo  -NICO
